Strategies on Visual Display Terminal Lighting in Office Space under Energy-Saving Environment

In this work, we have studied how the vertical illuminance of human eye position, horizontal work surface, and brightness computer screen in office space lighting are correlated under an energy-saving environment. This investigation was conducted a full-scale laboratory that simulates with 20 adults. It found when indoor ambient changes, subject’s position is affected accordingly, two factors strongly correlated. On other hand, surrounding environment brighter increases, working surface adjusted by subject during visual display terminal (VDT) operation significantly reduced. The value can even be lower than frequently employed various countries around world, since will accordingly. Therefore, environment, users vary lighting. Especially current mainstream VDT operating within certain range conditions, interior setting benchmark for additional energy conservation.
